5IVE
Our boys 5ive will be hitting the road in late June in support of Cable. It's pretty much 5ive's first time doing a bunch of shows in a row so step on out of your haze and drop by your local club to witness the duo in action. 5ive is scheduled to have CD's with them, which leads us to.....
New stuff for August:
If all goes well August should bring 3 new records from the Tortuga camp. We aren't sure what it is about Tortuga and releasing two records from the same group at once, but we seem to be planning to do it again. Not only will 5ive's debut finally be available on CD format but their 2nd full length will also see the light of day this August. "The Telestic Disfracture" was recorded early this year with Andrew Schneider (Barbaro, Scissorfight, Roadsaw) and features, believe it or not, some tracks with vocals on it. The blessed voice of Milligram's Jonah Jenkins secretly shows up on two tracks and we'll be damned if it doesn't sound natural. We never though we'd see the day 5ive had so much as a whisper on one of their recordings, but that day has arrived and our arms are open. Also making a guest appearance is drummer Mike Warhorse in a rare episode of guitar slaying. Not to be missed......
Also expected in August is the LP version of Isis' groundbreaking follow up to last year's "Celestial". Although "SGNL>05" was recorded during the Celestial sessions, there is something about the record that is, well...., beyond. Maybe it's just because it's new to all of us. Or maybe its the fact that Godflesh's main man Justin Broadrick shows up to dismantle and re-assemble the title track to "Celestial". Whatever it is, this record is another solid slab in the history Isis is creating. The CD version is out now on Neurot, but if it's vinyl you desire, ours will show up this August in various colors and weights.
MILLIGRAM
Milligram may seem to be quiet as of late but it's only because they have been working dilligently to write tracks for their debut full length that is expected to arrive on Tortuga in Spring '02. Sure, Spring is a ways off, but sometimes you have to wait for the good shit. It makes you appreciate it that much more. Rumors are abound that the band will show up on a 7" of some sort before then. We'll let you know if we hear more on that.
Staff member Hellmann has been nice enough to put together some sticker and pin designs for 5ive, Old Man Gloom, Scissorfight and Milligram. We should have some available at shows and through mailorder soon enough.....
