Quitter's debut MCD is in stores now. 3/4th of our heroes in Roadsaw decided is might be fun to, well, really let the hair down. They've gotten their rock on in that "we like to rock" manner and, God bless 'em, they do the shit right. Catchy hooks, platinum vox and lots of ladies . . . The record shipped out with the power of our heavyweights so we're guessing our instincts weren't lying to us. And beyond that, they sure know how to start a goddamn bar fight.
Tortuga and Milligram have recently parted ways during the recording of their debut full length "This is Class War". Milligram is still one of our favorites ever here and we wish nothing but the absolute best to them in the future. We've had the chance to listen to the entire full length (plus some bonus stuff for comps, etc..) and were totally, completely floored by what they've been doing. They've done 20 something tracks of some of the most diverse, dynamic material we could have ever expected from them. There are tracks in the vein of material on "Hello Motherfucker" but beyond that is what stands out. Thick, heavy, chaotic, ballsy, melodic, it goes on and on . . . a fuckin' mighty debut for sure. We are not sure of where the full length will surface. More news to come . . .
5ive has been heaping all sorts of praise from the UK rock and metal scene. Both Rock Sound and Terrorizer included 5ive debut and 5ive's "The Telestic Disfracture" in their top albums of 2001. 5ive is planning to head into the studio soon to record a split ep with Australian noise boys Halo for Relapse Records. Shortly after recording the ep, they will head into the studio to begin work on their 3rd full length for Tortuga. Talks continue to bounce around regarding 5ive doing some sort or UK jaunt with labelmates Old Man Gloom.
Speaking of Old Man Gloom, they have officially signed on to open the upcoming Clash of the Titans 2002 tour featuring Scissorfight and Cave In.
- Thursday, February 28th, New York City, NY @ Brownies
- Friday, March 1st, Brooklyn, NY @ Northsix
- Saturday, March 2nd, Cambridge, MA @ the Middle East Downstairs
The band has been diligently practicing and writing in preparation for their 4th, 5th and 6th live shows ever. Tentative plans have been set for a summer recording session which should result in a fall release of there 4th full length, "Christmas". The bands debut, "Meditations in B", will once again be in stores this month after a lengthy absence from the shelves.
Scissorfight spent much of January holed up in Northern New England working on tracks intended for the next full length "Jaggernaut". The band's got a bunch of shows between February-March and plans are in the works for a trip to the west coast of this lovely nation. Our web store finally has Scissorfight t-shirts, hoodies, zip ups and hats in stock.
Isis have just announced their next full length will be released on the Ipecac label in the fall of 2002. The LP version will be released by Escape Artist. UK and Japan dates are in the works as well.
Our boys Roadsaw have stepped out of their self imposed hiatus to once again rock the shows on the Euro side of the Atlantic. Heading out with Orange Goblin throughout March, the band is supporting the official CD release of their last slab "Rawk n' Roll".
We don't have any set plans for the next couple of months here at Tortuga. Scissorfight, 5ive, Old Man Gloom and Quitter are all planning on doing full lengths over the next 6 months which means late 2002 is gonna be exhausting over here at headquarters.
